Hi
I've had no need to use this, but have seen others use it, it seem quite popular.http://photobucket.com/

Cold feed blockage, cut out and discard AIRJEC, repipe cold feed/open vent, new pump valves, chemical clean and flush.0

May be better to take your plumbers advice. You would probably get your outlay back in a few years & better heating.0

Maybe it was ok at first but the gradual build up of scale and sludge in the radiators has slowly made the expansion pipe the route of least resistance.
Where does the expansion pipe branch off relative to the pump?0 -
Hi
Well done with the photo! It speaks a thousand words, most of them rude!;)
Anyway.... As said, cut out the air separator (that's not an Aerjec they don't have a conical top) buy an air separator (I know PTS do the Aerjec (it's a Myson product) as I asked for one a couple of months back.) and pipe it up.
All the other potential leaks where the scale and crusty stuff is can be dealt with as and when it's a problem. You would certainly benefit from a flush and inhibitor added after. There are many opinions on doing this so I won't go there.
The original installer must have misheard his instructor and has fitted the cyl stat 1/3 from the top instead of the bottom. Move it down to the correct position and you will get more than a basin full of hot water.
IMO you do not need a new boiler at this stage. Sit back and plan for the future.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a do at the weekend.
For my education why is it that this needs to be changed?0 -
Hi
Because the air sep. is probably full of gunk. A little tip from another forum I read the other day.. Try putting a magnet on the side of the air sep and see if it is inclined to stick. If so then it's got magnetite /rust in it.
Something else I thought of , if you look on the side of the pump there is a direction arrow,(it's on the main body not the head) which way is it pointing?( hopefully down!)
