O/S Daily Sunday 10 November 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Remembering all our service personnel - we will remember them x
Sunny, clear start to the day here, cold but not quite a frost.
Lazy start to the day here, DH is in the bath, DS1 still in his pit, I'm on here enjoying my first cuppa. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was southern fried chicken, pizza, skinny chips (menfolk), salad (me) and coleslaw. Today will be roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, peas, yorkshires and gravy.
We were very lazy yesterday - and we didn't get to the parents, so need to go this morning - I'll put the meat in before we go and just organise everything elese when we get back. I don't feel so pressured to get everything done as I'm on annual leave now until a week tomorrow, DH is only working tomorrow then he's on annual leave too, so a more relaxed week, although we have several jobs we have planned to get done.
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
I hope you're OK JackieO x
ScarletRibbons and redruby I hope you're both OK too! x
Enjoy your week off nmlc x
We ended up staying at FIL's for a while. I put the stuff I needed by the front door and thought we'd be leaving but mr tru was saying “I'll just check this... oh this needs sorting....” so I put the kettle on and made a cuppa. We sorted the prescription meds ready to go back to the chemist, and there were loads of supplies of over-the-counter things all over the house. I put them on the bookshelves and told my BILs that if they needed anything from the chemist, please shop for free from the house before heading to an actual shopI brought some home for us, I don't think I'll need to buy plasters or paracetamol ever again
Also found lots of little stashes of cash, a few notes but mostly change. I brought it home and am going to count it, swap the change for notes – I like having a little pot of change in the kitchen – then report back to the brothers to find out what I'm supposed to do with it.
I've just put some washing in the machine, it's decided that the setting for a 30º wash (39 mins) means a 90º wash for 2 hrs 22 mins. If you hold the start button in for three seconds, it's supposed to cancel the cycle. That's decided not to work so I turned it off at the wall and am ignoring it
I'm hoping we don't have to do anything today, I need to not do things! If I get bored I'll sort a few things that we brought home yesterday but only if I'm in the mood. Taking Scamp out knowing I'm coming home to nothing sounds like bliss at the moment! I want my day to go like this – a couple more coffees, long walk, maybe look at the washing machine, lasagne, book, film, sort chickens, something snacky for tea, shower, lie on sofa watching another film

Good morning - it is a lovely fine morning here, the sun is shining !! Cold of course.
Thanks for starting NMLC, hope you and your DH enjoy your time off.
Thanks to everyone for your good wishes - my bruises are deep purple, I suppose they'll go through a range of colours!!
I didn't do much yesterday, just couldn't be bothered.
I might potter a bit today, Dh can put some washing in, thank heavens for automatic washing machines.
Hope everyone has a good day. I expect Jackie is still feeling a bit battered.
Take care folks0 -
Good morning folks.
I think it may be a fine though cold day here. Not that I'm going out anywhere. Last nigh I decided I needed new books to read (ha!) so ordered three from A which are coming today. As I liked the Mick Herron books I'm trying Charles Cumming now.
There's also the huge order from W coming at about 2pm. It's a four - six week stock up, including cleaning materials etc. As I'm not sure when I can get out again and don't want to impose on friends or neighbours too much, I've ordered more than what I thought we'd need.
I googled for information about getting into and out of bed, which made me realise that my set up is the wrong way round. I have to get in with my non-operated leg first. So I've organised a lovely friend to come on Tuesday to do the lifting of bedside table and bed so that everything is right. It's blooming never ending!!
DM's friend, who will be baby-sitting her, was here again yesterday. He's a lovely, though ever so slightly odd, chap. He wanted a list of instructions, phone numbers and who to contact if anything were to go wrong. That's all fair and I did ir. Yesterday he wanted to hear what the front door bell sounded like. :rotfl: So I opened the door and pressed the button! Then he asked what does the intercom bell sound like, we'll, i wasn't about to struggle up and down the stairs for him to hear it. Anyway, only the postie comes and he knows I won't be around so he has to try another bell.
Right...my day shocks start now. I'm thinking of all those who've been through the wars yesterday. Watching the rainbow of colours moving across your bruises may be a tiny consolation. I hope you all heal soon.
Happy Sundst to everyone.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A lovely but chilly start here too. I need to go out and feed the birdies when I wrap myself up a bit.
I hope the walking wounded managed to sleep last night and feel less sore this morning. REDRUBY I was sorry to read you were our third casualty.
No plans for today so I think a lazy Sunday is on the cards for me. Some odd jobs this morning (nothing too taxing!) before watching the Remembrance Service on tv. This afternoon it will be feet up with my book.
I need to get something out of the freezer for today's meals but it's so flipping cold in the garage I keep putting it off! Both freezers out there are in need of defrosting if we get a milder spell.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad and our little group of casualties. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
I hope the bruised ones are starting to recover.
Tru, me and 3 of my brothers went through mum and dad's house like a dose of salts. We knew it would be the only opportunity the week after she died but what an effort it was. I hope all the load is shared (we have one brother who didn't bother coming up, either when she died or after until the funeral).
Had a lovely evening with the baby and Laura and Chris and Crystal. It was a nightmare getting there but worth it. Unfortunately now Laura isn't so well, they are monitoring her so hopefully she'll be fine. Anyway I made an executive decision that we won't be going to Yorkshire today. We have to cancel a couple of appointments for the next two days. Either Steve will go up alone on Tuesday or we'll both go then.0 -
Morning
Sorry to hear about our OS tumble tots ....Hope you're both resting up as aching may well be the form today. Jackie some enforced rest will do you lots of good but I know you will have ants in your pantsChill and be spoilt both of you
Gers your chair sounds perfect. Does make you realise how badly most of us sit that can really damage the joints. Big thing for me was learning never to cross my legs! Good luck for this week I'm sure you will be in and out in no time and will love the result
Ham roast with all the trimmings today as the girls are over expecting to be fed. Yorkshire puds need mixing soon and veg but not a lot else. Also want to make a batch of the cookies that James Martin did on his show yesterday....its mums 89th birthday this week so rather than a cake Im doing her favourite sweet treats.
Yesterday I made Doner kebabs fakeaway in the slow cooker that was lovely as a Saturday night treat.
Not much else going on best get the veg prepped. Have a good day all0 -
Ruby just seen your evening post....ouch
Hoping everyone manages to stay upright today0 -
Morning all...Flu jab yesterday morning, followed by a spot of shopping fr a new dressing gown, also bought a pair of jogging bottoms which I have never owned before and are delightfully sloppy...
While getting the slow cooker down from the shelves yesterday I dropped the lid on my face but luckily, it or may face, broke. I made chilli mac and cheese for supper...the reverberations of that are stinking the house out...tmi?
Also yesterday, the boiler decided to break so now we either have to find someone to mend it [ a feat in itself] or get a new one. In the meantime, I'm ordering some wood, hpefuly it'll come in the week sometime, but that scuppers my plans to finish the interminable porch. Probably not a bad thing though.
Today I have shower, hospital and keep the fire going...
Scarlett, red ruby and Jakcie, thank you for taking my [ and others by the sound of it!] clumsy but you don't need to keep it now...Hope you're all colours of the rainbow and healing quick..arnica?Hope everyone can stay upright today or prone on the sofa! Slowly slowly Sunday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hello campers !
Well it's sunny but windy and cold...... there's no pleasing me lately :rotfl:.
Mr Fix It was moaning all night every time he turned in bed as his hip was giving him some gyp, so I got up at 4 am and made a drink. He got up at 5am so I went back for a couple of hours but now I feel meh.
Today is " D " day...... dinner with Dad ( don't know what mood he will be in today, but I hope it's an amicable one ) and new Dw day, can't wait for the latter as my hands are ruined with all the washing up I've been doing. We have been given the 3.30pm til 7.50pm. slot, so the men will probably end up delivering in the dark. I hope they bring a torch cos our street is not very well lit and they have to manoeuvre it up our steps and around the side in the pitch black .(we do have our own if necessary )
Lunch is beef in gravy, done in the slow cooker as always, roasties, yorkies and veg and all smothered in gravy  mmmmmmm !
I hope our bumpy people feel not so sore and stiff after the tumbles of yesterday.
Hugs to anyone in need.
Take care all ( some of you didn't listen yesterday, did you:D )
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Morning all
Cold but bright here, I have stripped the beds and got them on a hot wash hopefully we will be able to get them on the line for a while today.
I seem to have come off unscathed from my aerobics yesterday just a slight ache in my back but nothing bad, I hope Jackie and Scarlett are ok xx
We had a lovely evening at my sisters yesterday I did a baked feta which was delish and we had lovely bread, truffle chips, salad and chocolate tart for pudding it was all so tasty
Today we have roast pork and all the trimmings we will do enough for tomorrow too, I am hopefully having the jab in my foot tomorrow and will have to stay off of it for a few days so will need easy dinners (fingers crossed he actually does it )
We will take the pup out for a nice walk today maybe to the beach if the tide is out she loves it there and runs and runs and rolls in the sand with great joy.
Right better get on have good days all xx0
