Or the timing could just have been a coincidence.

I've been dealing with the estate of a deceased relative recently, which means that I've been transferring money between accounts - sometimes large amounts, sometimes not. And occasionally these payments get held - sometimes for up to two days, if at a weekend. It seems likely that something about the payments has led to it being held while a human looks at it, to check for anything untoward.

I'd guess that something similar has happened to your transfer, and that there is nothing sinister at all going on.

I very much doubt it. The money credited to my account wasn't credited as an incoming transfer at all. It was credited as "Unknown Merchant."

All previous transfers have been credited accurately -- as an incoming credit with my name and bank details on it. You're giving Dozens rather too much benefit of the doubt here.

So it sounds like someone has made a call and credited you. While they chase the payment in the background.:T

It's pretty shady that this payment was supposedly lost but able to materialise immediately Dozens were outed on Twitter.

The only person who thought it was lost was you

They said "Our Payments Team are working as hard as they can to resolve this for you." and that their payment processor was "slightly delayed at this time."

And, hey presto, a bit later the payment appeared. Pretty much like they said it would. Not entirely sure what your point is.
  • I might be missing something here but what is the point of transferring from bank to card just to spend again when it could be done with original bank card?

I think a lot of people do not want anyone to know their bank details. So think using a 3rd party card linked to their bank is safer.
Might well be, not. But when things go wrong. Then you are struggling to get to the bottom of problems, or who is actually responsible to sort it out.

KISS is a phrase that people need to understand with banking :rotfl:
