hi
i started renting the house oct 2014 on a 5 year fixed term lease,
and didn't even know that 5 years had passed until i've just received an email from mydeposits saying it was no longer protected as of 7/11

i've not received anything from the housing association if i need to agree a new term or just stay in on a periodic tenancy now,
my account with them is showing a credit in a "market rents bond"

but what happens to it now,
is it returned to me or do they need to re-protect it?

thanks, k

Ask mydeposits to return it to you. It's your money. It should either be protected or returned.

Or contact your HA for clarification.

So your housing association should also receive the same email.
I think they have 30 days to reprotect the deposit.
It costs £26 to reprotect the deposit with MyDeposits and offer another new fixed term tenancy.
However it is free to change over to periodic tenancy so No change with MyDeposits.
Not sure how it works with your housing association ?
How much deposit did you pay ?
Changes in the Tenancy Act means the deposit can't be more than 5 week's rent ! Who paid the deposit ?

my fixed term actually ended 08/10/2019 according to mydeposits so it over a month,
i paid the £400 deposit and as in my 1st post, my online rent account is showing £0 in rent owed and £400 credit in market rents bond
would sooner have the cash back if possible but no biggy if it needs to be protected again,
just seems unusual my HA haven't been in touch with it been over a month, surely they can't hold it unprotected until i decide to leave?
