Recommendations for a pub/restaurant in Cardiff
Hi,
For the first time in 4 years me and OH are going out without kids!!! WE live on the east side of Cardiff and are planning on going for a meal.
Can anyone recommend any nice restaurants? Ideally on the eastish side (to save on taxi fares!), not too expensive, preferably romantic, and obviously with nice nosh!! We like Italian, Indian, Thai or would consider stuff we haven't had before (not fussy really!). Even a pub that does good food would be nice. We're not really into really trendy places, just somewhere with a nice atmosphere and good food.
Don't want to mess up our first night out in a very long time by going somewhere we don't like!!
Thanks for any suggestions.

Think I'm stretching my original boundaries TBH. I'm now considering as far as the city centre or the Bay. Might as well make the most of it seeing as it probably won't happen again for another 4 years!!
I do like burgers normally, but it's not exactly what I had in mind for this occasion! Thanks though.0 -
Think that the river is the divider most of the time...!
If it's only once every leap year you get to go out, then the Bay is a DEFINATE! You can eat out at Pizza Express there in lovely surroundings for £30 for two, starters, pizzas or pasta and bottle of wine. Then head on to Ba Orient for some cocktails (htere are around the £6 mark, but you've saved in Pizza Express, so go nuts!) and chat the ight away over a mojito.
Oooh, I want to go out now just thinking about this!0 -

I'm thinking we ought to go a bit mad too. It'll probably be another year or two till we get to go out again so we might as well make the most of it - forget being MSE for once!! We've never been to the bay at night so it's a strong possibility.
Mmmm...cocktails...mmm :j ...the thought of dealing with the kids the next day with a hangover :eek:0 -

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm still trying to decide!! It's really hard trying to choose the perfectplace when we go out so rarely - I'll be really disappointed if I get it wrong!
Just checked out the cab fare for City Centre or the Bay and it would cost os £22-28 return!!! LOADS!.
Are there any places you can park near the Bay or City Centre over night for free - don't mind a bit of a walk, then we could pick up the car the next day.0 -
I'm not sure that you'd find parking anywhere in Cardiff for free! What about using the bus. £3 for an all day ticket, with loads of buses to the Bay and they run quite late. The last bus from town to my house is 11.20pm. Not too late and not too early.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0

Mamosi down the bay is lovely the food takes a little bit longer but well worth it and not that expensive have fun0

If you decided to eat at Bella Italia (Red Dragon Centre) or Cafe Rouge (Cardiff Bay) you could use Tesco Vouchers, saving enough money to cover the cost of a Taxi. If you were able to get to Cardiff City centre you can catch a train to Cardiff Bay from Cardiff Queen Street Station. Just a few other suggestions.
Have a great time whatever you decide.
