Door Frames

Help! Somebody just tell me it is all going to be ok. I had a damp course done at home recently all through the downstairs of my house. As a result of this I found out that my door frames needed replacing. Seemed like a nice idea at the time as I thought I would have natural wood instead of painted stuff. Anyway this has been a job ongoing for weeks. I can't afford to pay anyone to do the work for me but a clever friend finally came to start the job yesterday. Got the best part of one frame in, (no archetraving yet) and it needed facing with an inch by inch strip of wood 'cos the house is all shapes. Anyway took the archetrave off the other doorway to find there is NO mortar in the layer of brick running up the side of the door, just the frame holding it in. Said friend had to go and have a lie down at this point and has since rng me to say that his hands are very bad and he can't finish the job! Looks like I am learning to brick lay and turning joiner as soon as I can find a babysitter. Sob.
