Having a really bad month, TV broke, so have ordered a new one & now the car has broken down, luckily I'd switched to Prudential through quidco & had homestart, but they had to take to the garage, now I've got no idea how much it's going to cost.
Already starting to feel sick/panic about Xmas.
Why is it when one thing goes wrong the rest follow:mad:
I feel like someone is trying to sabotage my quest to be debtfree.
Also panicking as hubby's contract finishes in July & his money will go down, so will be slower to pay things back then, so really wanted to get rid of as much as I could. So fed up I could cry

Aw, that's a bit rubbish! But hopefully it won't be as bad as you think. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xmuch work to be done - new sig coming soon...0

Someone told me recently just to take one day at a time, it's the only thing to do.
My husband runs a very small company and they've really struggled this winter, due to the summer being so wet they made no money at all and just owe money everywhere. It's so bad he didn't pay himself last month, this month and I don't think he will get paid now until Feb 08.
To top that our lodger seems to have gone awol and hasn't paid the Nov rent!!
We've only got enough money to last until the second week in Dec and then I don't quite know what we will do - he may have to get a second job for a couple of months and we are ebaying everything in sight.
BUT my point was (after all this waffle) was that in situations like these I think you can only look one day at a time. Don't look to far ahead as it just gets to depressing. Keep a tight rein on the money and it will probably turn out ok in the end.0 -
Thanks for your advice & support, I really needed someone to say it'll be ok.
Just not feeling too positive at the moment.
Best not to worry about things that may not turn out so bad in the end, I tell my Sister that all the time, she's just got over breast cancer & just went for more tests as her back was bad, ( she thought the cancer had spread ) she was so worried & I said the worry will make you more ill. Thankfully not cancer, but osteoporosis, caused by the chemo, so not great, but not as bad as it could've been.Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

I know how you feel!!
We've had things going wrong since the beginning of October.....the boiler failed, we got it fixed, the car had one thing then another wrong with it and we got that (all £500 of it!) fixed, now the boiler's gone again, and can't be fixed! It's one of those old back boilers so we have no hot water and no central heating. Luckily we have a gas fire downstairs and can use electric fan heaters upstairs, and the shower is electric.
At times I've felt like Jeremy Beadle's going to pop out from somewhere as it's just been a catalogue of errors!!
We're not that much in debt anymore, but still trying to save and pay off the mortgage so that I can give up work and concentrate on the health issues.........it's like at the moment in our house, if you touch one thing 50 things just go wrong!!
I agree with the previous poster - it might just be easier to take things one day at a time and not dwell.....as you don't want to end up with falling ill too.
Not sure if that helped - but just to let you know - you're not the only one!

I know. My washing machine is on the way out and we've had to have new tyres and worst of all - a new boiler and central heating system! The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I know what it's like - I've got about 2 and a half weeks to pay day and £20 in my account. Tonight I've came home to £600 worth of bills! I spent half an hour at work today hidden in one of the side offices phoning Cahoot to tell them I can't make a payment right now, but that money will be with them soon, and also to my gym who have now turned aorund and said that they didn't collect my direct debits in March and April and are telling me now!
So, bills to be paid these next two weeks:
1 - Council tax £571; (Need to phone them tomorrow)
2 - Electricity £80; (Ditto)
3 - Cahoot loan £300; (Paying them on Friday when an expenses cheque should have cleared - down to last £700 on this £8K 4 yr loan!)
4 - Sainsburys Visa £100; (Need to phone them tomorrow)
5 - Gym £104 (They will wait until my December pay day).
I'm sure something else will come in tomorrow and poo all over me - that's just the way life is when you're skint.
I know exactly what you mean about panicking too. Saturday evening I was coming home from my Mum's and ended up having to pull onto the hard shoulder as I had a full scale panic attack on the motorway. I did the thing that only those in debt can understand; I phoned my bank and said, "I have no money to give you". I faced up to it and they were fine with me and agreed something that I can afford. Then tonight, another two bills turn up!
It never rains but it pours - someday we'll be out of this merry-go-round though.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Big hugs honey. Hope your feeling better soon xx0
