Moving savings from other EU country

Hi. I am thinking of moving some of my savings from other EU country, as I don't live there anymore and would like to have my money closer and more accessible in the UK. Thankfully there is a Starling Euro account and I could wire Euros myself using SEPA transfer.

My question is about taxes: I am pretty sure I should not be taxed (second time) for moving my own savings from other EU country, but better to do some research around the topic. Could HMRC become suspicious about the source of funds? Is there anything I can read on the topic? Thanks.

Yes, HMRC might become suspicious about the source of the funds, but presumably you still have documentation showing how you came by the money and that at the time you were not liable for UK taxes. In any case, they have access to bank account details throughout the EU (and many other countries) so if they take an interest they could see your money anyway.
