I currently have a current account that i pay for 15 pounds a month. i've never the used what it offers and i never signed up for it in the first place it just appeared about a year ago. i want to get rid of it as i don't want to pay for something i don't use but i have a large overdraft and i'm worried in case it affects the overdraft facility.. the bank is RBS.

Check the normal interest rate http://www.rbs.co.uk/personal/current-accounts/g1/standard-accounts/ipca.ashx#tabs=section2 and calculate whether you will be better off.
I know 4 people including myself who had to fight with RBS to get their accounts downgraded. One of whom had an overdraft.
In my case I sent them a letter via recorded delivery asking for my acccount to be downgraded they ignored it.
Three months letter I noticed they were still taking the money out so I sent them a letter threatening to refer them to the financial ombudsman if they didn't and that they had to refund the 3 months fees. There response was to reply they would do so, refund me the fees and send me three letters stating that my overdraft rate would increase by 1.5% and would lose out on lots of benefits. I had no overdraft.
3 of the other people tried to change their accounts over the phone and got lots of hassle including the person with the overdraft. All 3 of them had to threaten to move their account before their account was downgraded. They all got their accounts downgraded. The person with the overdraft still had an overdraft but as they were earning more money they got rid of it as soon as possible.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I'm sure as eggs are eggs i didn't sign anything because i remember them asking me in the branch, i said no then a few months later it just appeared.. i've never used any of the things it offers0

You could write in your letter that you never signed up for it and want a refund from the start of your forced subscription.
If you did sign up for it then RBS should provide you with evidence to back their claim i.e. a photocopy of your signature on the form.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
