PPI company paid too much by error

Hi A year ago I succesfully claimed PPI. Company phoned yesterday saying they paid too much. I asked to write to me and said they couldn't access my address because of data protection. I asked to call back another time thinking scam. Now really worried they will want money back. Has anyone got similar calls?

  • The money should have been paid by the creditor, not a claims company.

But if you have been overpaid, obviously you will need to repay it. Ask them for the evidence.

data protection would not apply as they are the bank/lender and have your details and you are fine to disclose your details as you like.

A firm would not ring if they said they had paid too much. They would write.

I would not be surprised if they turned around and said could you pay them in vouchers or some other weird money transfer method.
