Well, I made Delia's recipe tonight. Just finished jarring it up. Made 8 jars plus change. Ran out of jars! Lol would have filled at least 1 more, but not quite a 10th. DH took a teaspoon out to try and declared it delicious! Wahoo.February wins: Theatre tickets0

I'm making Delia's recipe, it's half prepared at the moment.
I use her Christmas cake recipe as well, very nice, and Christmas puddings from a recipe in the good old Be-Ro book.
I'm going to try that mince pie pastry as well, sounds easy enough0 -
I was very lucky to get 8 boxes of morrisons luxury mincepies for 10p a box instead of £1.85 a box yesterday!!0

Excellent! How did you manage that? Were they close to their date?
Just popped in to also say that one of the joys of cooking the mincemeat yesterday was the smell. It filled our house. Gorgeous! And so festive smelling. Loved it!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Good choice, it does make loads but it's so tasty you might need to find a space to hide in so you can let it mature. It's great when first cooked but definitely (like most things :rotfl:) improves with maturing a bit.:)euronorris wrote: »Well, I made Delia's recipe tonight. Just finished jarring it up. Well, I used the 'spare' mixture to make a batch last night, using the pastry recipe linked above. They are delicious! My DH ploughed through 3 in less than 5 minutes! LolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0

Sounds as though you are definitely going to have to hide some or make another batch. :rotfl::rotfl:A spoonful stuffed into a cored apple then baked and served with custard is wonderful if you/your OH get fed up with pastryeuronorris wrote: »Well, I used the 'spare' mixture to make a batch last night, using the pastry recipe linked above. Another vote for Delia's recipe here. I have some left from last year but will make some more as her individual puddings recipe takes a jar, and I'll add mincemeat to an apple crumble at any time of year.

I also use her Christmas Cake recipe. In all cases I'm likely to use vegetarian suet, apple juice rather than the alcohol and to omit nuts.Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️, DH: 🏅🏅⭐️, DD1: 🏅 and one for Mum: 🏅0
