Solarplicity - Toto Advice please

Just after some advice if possible please. Not too sure where to go with this.

We took out our energy with Solarplicity back in April through the energy club. At the end of July we were transferred over to Toto energy who went bust 8 weeks later. After we transferred to Toto I logged into Solarplicity to see we owed them £85, which I paid on my credit card, but no bill appeared for this fee or a explanation what this was for. I was told this would be transferred over to Toto. About 6 weeks into our contract with Toto I received a bill for over £500, which says a debt from Solarplicity came across for over £400 even though there was nothing on my account at Solarplicity to say this. I took out a complaint for this but was hounded by Toto daily for payment, so gave in and paid. Once paid I transferred the energy to Bulb.

My question is how would I go about raising a claim for both the £85, which I was advised would be transferred to Toto and the £400+ which I did not owe. Could I put in a charge back with my bank?

Thanks

Yes, you can try a chargeback, or section 75 claim with your credit card provider. They are likely to want to see some evidence that the amounts were not due, or that they were payments in advance for gas and electricity that was not supplied.

I would also contact EDF who have agreed to repay any credits of former Solarplicity and former TOTO customers.

Once EDF unravel the mess Solarplicity and Toto created, they will hopefully have details of the payments you made and your energy usage, so they may not need the information your credit card provider would need. This may take a while though.

You also say you transferred to Solarplicity in April. Was that April 2019? Solarplicity were banned from taking on new customers from 22/2/2019:

If you agreed to the transfer after 22/2/2019, I would send details to Solarplicity's administrators as it would be another example of wrong doing by the company.

Thank you for your reply. This information is very useful. I’ll get straight on to this to try and sort the mess out. Thank you again
