Does Boiler Breakdown Mean Breakdown?

Hello,

We have had boiler breakdown cover with SSE for over 2 years. We have recently had the boiler serviced. The engineer has reported that some components are getting close to failing. For example, a couple of leaking hoses and a malfunctioning gas valve.

I can't determine from the policy wording whether or not we are covered for these kinds of repairs when the boiler has not actually broken down. Is the insurance company likely to claim that I am responsible for repairing these faults in order to prevent a future malfunction or should I just do nothing and wait for the boiler to eventually breakdown?

Advice appreciated.

How can anybody consider leaking pipes or a malfunctioning valve to be "close to" failing? They have failed, and need fixing.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Breakdown cover is not the same as a maintenance contract.
