Removing Financial Connection

I am looking to apply for a mortgage in the next few months.

I had a look at my Experian file yesterday and noticed that I still have a financial connection with my husband through a joint Santander account that was closed a few years ago. This has been our only financial link.

I am filling out the Experian Financial Connections Questionnaire in order to remove this link as I will be making a sole mortgage application in my name.

One of the last statements says "I confirm that there is no active financial connection or dependency between myself and the person detailed above".

We are not dependent upon each other, and we have no children together, but we do share the costs of the rent and bills.

So would this count as not being financially dependent? I could manage without him, but naturally we share the costs of living together.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I don't want to get into trouble down the line!

Possibly but it doesn't answer the first part of that question active financial connection. I think you should call them and ask if rent and bill sharing counts as an active financial connection.
  • Any joint accounts or products you hold that report to the CRA's will financially like you.

This includes utility accounts and the like.

    Thank you both.

It might be easier to call Experian then and explain the situation!
