Gas safety certificate

Hi,
I was provided with a gas safety certificate when I moved into my rental accommodation.
After some confusion as to why things weren't working, it transpired the ga aboard had accessed the inside of the property and REMOVED the gas supply. This came to light when I called the gas supplier. I had to have an emergency meter fitted. The agency I rented through had no idea this had happened. But the only way the gas board accessed the property was with the agents key...
So I had an indate certificate but no gas.
Should the safety certificate be renewed each time a change occurs eg gas supply removed from the property?
Was I renting a property without a valid certificate? Is this breaking the law?

All gas work must be done by a competent person who should test gas tightness after any work. However there is no requirement to renew the annual certificate after any work.

What's the date on the gas safety certificate? Is it some time ago?

I guess the meter was removed sometime after the gas safety certificate was done.

The meter removal may have been arranged by a previous tenant, so the managing agent may not have known.

Providing the gas report is dated within the last year, and the re-instatement of the gas supply was done by a registered gas engineer, you are fine.
