  • Yeah I have one card with them and it’s giving me the offer of transferring up to £8672.00 for 0% interest over 12 months with a 5% fee

Exactly. So yet again more nonsense from MBNA. High fee though.
  • Just called them and he read out a statement saying I’ve been declined and the offer shown is available to anyone until they attempt to go through with the balance transfer. I explained that I spent £15 last night with Experian to check my credit file as advised and he told me to use Transunion as they also use them. So I’d imagine they’ll want a fee too. There is nothing wrong with my credit file. The whole thing is ridiculous. I said I could go out tonight and spend 10k on the card but cannot transfer a balance which is the whole point of the card and he said yes. I’ll be closing my account with them when I can

Get a complaint raised. Should be worth a nice few £££ for such a mess up.

I have never heard anything like it. You could try asking exactly what you are supposed to be checking but I don't imagine for one moment it would do any good.
  • They don’t know themselves I don’t think. Whole thing is a farce. I will be making a complaint
I’ll update if I get anywhere
    Thanks for all your comments

If the Barclaycard 0% offer is about to expire suggest you apply for a new balance transfer card (or perhaps cards depending on what credit limit you get) now, get the balance transferred then tell MBNA what to do with their card.

Hi Lauren - did this ever get resolved for you? I now have a similar issue: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6165702/mbna-gone-bad-on-balance-transfer-offer/p1?new=1
  • Hi,
Just piggy-backing this thread as I’ve had the same issue with MBNA.

Application approved and card received.  I’ve now received an email to say they can’t do the balance transfer. All the details are correct and the requested amount is below the maximum allowed. My old card is Capital One, so can’t see that there’d be a conflict there.

It was only when I had a google round that I saw these these threads came up and most, if not all relate to MBNA. Has anybody had any luck resolving the issue?

    Thanks

I just arranged to swap my MBNA card with another. They gave me 18 months on zero purchases and that was the one I wanted. Also increased the credit limit.
