Structural engineer report - roof

I had a homebuyers report advise me to have a structural engineer comment on the roof structure. I have instructed one and I am waiting to hear back. Has anyone had one done? Do they always come back negative ? I expect recommended work - but I just want confirming safe to live in until work carried out

    Sometimes people remove important structural members of the roof to make more room, thinking that a few bits of timber won't make any difference.

    Yeah true. This seems to be additional supports added - but with out building regs

    That happened to my house, nothing has fallen down.
