Green Deal Plans
Hi, first post, so hope I have the right place. Thank you go anyone who cares enough to read this.
I was approached in 2015 by a company called Green Hut Energy, offering green deal home improvements. At the time, my dual fuel bill was £100, and we had a really old back boiler that was nearing the end of its life, so asked what they could do for us. They undertook assessment, and said that we could have a new combi boiler installed, and the saving we would make on our bills by having a more efficient boiler could be used to offset the cost of the boiler itself. So we wouldn't end up paying more than we were already. All government-approved and backed, apparently.
So, going ahead with this, we were handed off to MW Heating and Plumbing, who installed the boiler and set up the plan for us, which would be paid for through our monthly NPower direct debit bill.
Anyway, NPower then failed to bill us. For 3 years, despite them taking the monthly direct debit from our account. So this went to the ombudsman, which was a massive battle, but eventually all was resolved, account sorted, and we have had manual bills from NPower calculated for us for a year.
And today, I get a letter from Npower stating that they haven't been charging us for the green deal, and going forwards our bill is £160 per month. So I called them up, and all they had to say was that we agreed to pay £1.52 per day for the boiler to MW Heating, and their bill for gas and electric is now £110, so we have to pay it to cover both bills.
I have a young family as well as an autistic daughter, and seriously am going to struggle to find this extra money, but no-one cares. I can't complain to Resolver apparently as neither Green hut Energy or MW Heating are on their register and they can't add any new companies now.
Is there anything at all I can do, or am I screwed?
