Penalty Charge Notice - same road different rules

Hello,
I've received a PCN from kingston council. I didn't notice that one side of the road is pay and display the other is display only, i paid on the pay and display but of course i was parked on the wrong side. Is there any way to appeal this? I've saved the display ticket. The road is fairly narrow so I'm surprised one side has one set of rules, the other something different.
Let me know as I only received this yesterday, so perhaps there is something to be argued.

If it is a council ticket, pop over to the Pepipoo web site and their fightback forums as this forum specialises in Private Parking whilst Pepipoo does council.0
