PDCS - Calls, emails but no debt?

On Monday 4th November whilst at work, I received a text telling me to contact PDCS urgently regarding an "important matter" and a reference number was included. I googled PDCS and was horrified to learn they are a debt collection company. I have got debts but in the form of a loan and credit cards - which are all under control, with no defaults. I am in a position where I have debts and am working towards paying them off, I have a good job, I am not in a position where I would miss a payment for anything. So this was a shock to receive but I passed it off as a phishing message. Since the text, I had an email to an email address I have had for 3 years only, and calls (which I have now sent to spam on my smartphone). I have done a lot of internet searching, checking these forums, other articles, trust pilot reviews of this company and by all accounts they sound horrific. I have spent the last 2 days racking my brains to try and think of any debt that I have that I am unaware of that would have got to a point where it is with a collection company, and there is nothing. So I am really stressed out about this - the not knowing, and also knowing that I haven't got anything outstanding. I lived at my previous address for 3 years, had no demands in the post for anything, and was at my address before that for 5 years - all settled up; with post being redirected after moving from both properties to ensure nothing was missed. It can't be HMRC as I have never had tax credits and am not self employed (never have been)...
The contact has come after I moved house a month ago, and then switched energy suppliers. Final bills are settled for my previous property, the bill for the energy in the new property before we changed supplier is being recalculated and we have only been there a month... I have found these last couple of days really stressful and wish I could just ignore the matter until I have a letter or something more concrete but their tactics are awful. I have checked the credit reports I have access to and no defaults show... I am flummoxed. I am definitely not going to answer their calls or phone them based on what I have read on these forums/external resources but I was hoping for some up to date guidance, support and advice as a lot of the posts I have looked at are old. Thank you

Hi TeddyGee and welcome to the forum
The only time you need to respond to PDCS would be if they wrote to you, via Royal Mail. Until such time, you can ignore them.
On that basis, if it were me, I would block their 'phone number and mark their emails as spam.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Hi,
It’s what we refer to as a “fishing trip”, where few details about the debtor are known, the collection agency bombardes all those with similar details, with calls, texts etc, in the hope of a hit.
As said above, you do not have to respond to texts or calls, only if they write to you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
