And the final update - I was advised today by HMRC that all IHT figures have been agreed.
Two items were investigated - our application for exemption with regard to lifetime gifts (IHT403) under s.21 of the IHT Act 1984, and the valuation of the house (IHT405). I knew I was on solid ground with these two issues but it's so good to know that there won't be a stop whilst they're investigating further, and in particular that our application for exemption wasn't denied. I was ready to argue our corner on both but now I don't have to which is a relief.
So now we know where we are with regard to the total IHT payable. Putting the house on the market start of April and cross fingers that it won't take too long.
I really think this has gone through very efficiently. HMRC helpline has the most amazing people who never seem rushed and are always willing to assist wherever they can. Very impressive.

And thank you again to everyone here for their invaluable advice.
