In answer to the questions posed, the CSA under the current regulations cannot take any outgoings into consideration. It is a flat % of your net income, which at £160 per week is a reduced rate as you earn less than £200 per week. It is tough, but you will need to come to agreements with other creditors, as CSA payments are considered to be high priority, over and above loans and credit cards etc. It sounds like you have had a tough time, and I sincerely hope that you get this sorted out as quickly as possible.

After my appt with CAB money advice lady she kind of said the same as you, so after contacting CSA they are having the money by Standing Order out my bank plus a small percentage for the 5 weeks arrears that have built up whilst we sorted this out.
I wasnt moaning about having to pay the CSA money for my 2 children it just seemed unfair that they didnt take your basic outgoings into consideration, BUT after reading some horror stories on here, the new system does seem fairer with a fixed % of salary being taken.
The CSA lady did say that now hes receiving money for the children of me it will make my case for Custody more sucessful.
I am making full use of the other forums to cut back on my shopping/fuel bills etc, thank god for Martins site it is a god send and with all the imput from other folks on the other forums my problems not so horrible as it appeared a week ago, his saying that no debt cant be sorted is true, I wish everybody knew about his site.
So Im off to do my washing in my Value Bio Powder from Asda and scoff my cheapo choccie digestives and mooch around on the other forums.

Custody/contact have nothing whatsoever to do with the CSA, i certainly wouldn't believe what you have been told.
