New BG customer, can I move to new BG deal already
I moved from Eon to British Gas Plus Protection Green Sep 2020v2 in September. I've paid my first direct debit payment to BG and from tomorrow can set up my existing smart meters with them. Can I switch to the current best BG tariff (Energy & boiler cover Green Nov 2020v4) despite MSE still showing the original switch as in progress? If I can it will presumably have to be through another comparison site because of this, do I then miss out on the £25 cashback for the original switch from Eon.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Glad someone had the same great mind as me and ask this! I'm in the similar situation where I moved to BG last month (Oct 8th) and now I see a new cheaper BG tariff again via the weekly email which is available for existing customers.
I just logged in to Cheap Energy Club and it says I've got a "switch in progress" so that means until that changes I can't jump to this new tariff...I'm happy to be corrected on this though.
Thanks all for any info,

- You qualify for the original cashback because you've completed the switch. However, it can take some time. Chase the CEC via energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com
- You don't need to go via a comparison site, and you wouldn't qualify for more cashback because you wouldn't be a new customer. You can just ask BG to switch you to a different BG tariff, but remember to check your Ts & Cs for any exit fees and / or loss of add-ons.

Excellent reply Gerry1, thanks.0

Thanks Gerry, the tariff shown on mse isn't available with BG so can't I switch directly with them. Compare the Market show me as being an Eon customer still but presumably I can change the details and switch with them.0

Before changing, I wanted to speak to British Gas to see if they could swap me without reentering my details as I was an existing customer. Its taken several days to get through to someone, only to find out that this tariff has been replaced by something less attractive.
How do they get away with this?
Also, how can people who are not able to use the internet avoid getting ripped off?0 -
According to BG website if I switch from September 2020v2 to November 2020v2 I'll be paying £275 a year more on my usage !!0

That’s because these comparison site deals and m.s.e. deals aren’t available to British Gas themselves. Spoke to an adviser earlier at British Gas. If you work out the projected yearly cost on the sept 20 deal, and compare it with the latest deal, you will find the latest deal cheaper, I did.0

Hi, thanks for that. Was there much difference?0

Seems like it's disappeared as you say.
I notice EnergyHelpline Cashback site now has "Energy Plus Protection Dec 2020" listed. For me in Scotland, works out almost the same and away to switch,0 -
I emailed MSE customer service on Wednesday but then decided to switch via Compare the Market rather than wait for a reply. Glad I did, MSE haven't responded yet and BG moved me to the cheaper tariff yesterday.0
