Leak from water possibly caused rising damp in house

Hi,

I wondered if anyone else has previously trodden this path and can offer me some advice / guidance?

Southern Water have admitted to a leak outside my property and refunded me over £500 as despite me being billed for the water it was their leak however i think it has caused rising damp in my property as the issue wasn't there before the leak.

I'd like to see if they are liable for the repair work, does anyone know the best route to take, is it to contact Southern Water first off for an open discussion or is it to take a more formal approach and see if my house insurance covers legal and start like that?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
