Taff, no but Nana didn't seem to fit (my mum was nana and I can't take her title, bit irrational I know) and I've never liked the word grandma after that mawkish song, There's no-one quite like grandma. We searched for an alternative and decided on Nonna. Steve hasn't decided yet if he wants to be grandad or not.
  • Afternoon all. Congrats Snoozer. I am Grammie to dgs 5.

Well we collected dgs from school and gave him a cooked lunch. DH has taken him down to Bristol Eye Hospital to meet his Mum as ha has another checkup on his eye today.

I am still trying to shake off this lurgy. The cough is dry and tickly and very irritating. Meh.

HH hope OH is ok after the meeting. TA enjoy your day out. Dumpling take it steady
    Hugs and spoons to all.

Good afternoon, even though it's getting dark outside.

I went to visit my friend, she had her hip op seven weeks ago so gave me great reassurance about the procedure and after-care. It's remarkable what she can now do so I'm looking forward to it all being done and dusted. Sorry if I harp on about it, it's in the forefront of my mind just now!

After that I did a little bit of shopping in W, had a hot drink and piece of shortbread and then came back here. DM is up and about, made her own brekkie and lunch - she is quite amazing given that in the late spring and most of summer it was thought that she was not going to last. :j

I never knew my paternal grandparents nor my maternal grandfather, they all had died before I was born. Being of German extraction my maternal grandmother was Omi, grandfathers were called Opa in our family. I agree about Grandma (the awful song) and Grandad (the other awful song!), both terms conjour up images of long-past grandparents.

Now, I hope that dumpling is enjoying letting her family take care of her for a change and following docs orders!

I've off to continue with my book.

Congratulations Snoozer …..I absolutely love being granny, though sometimes when people say 'granny' meaning me, I still think they mean my mam.

    Good evening everyone :hello:

Congratulations snoozer what a lovely piece of news to read. Hope your daughter is ok too. Was he overdue?

Still feeling very weak and wobbly but I am being so well looked after by Steve. Lots of people want to visit but he is standing guard over me as I get worn out very quickly lol. I have someone coming for a quick cup of tea and a catch up tomorrow afternoon but I know she won't stay long. My mental health worker is coming tomorrow as well so I hope I can manage to stay awake :):)

tru, I'm glad Scampi coped with the fireworks after a fashion. My dogs aren't bothered by the noise but I am happy to support a ban on them for all the animals that suffer. I had a giggle at the thought of your chickens in a trance too, it just tickled me :rotfl:

Gers, I really hope your hip operation goes very well and there are no issues. I was so pleased to hear about your mum being so much more active too.

Back to bed I go as I am tired tired tired. It's weird sleeping downstairs and I was awake a lot in the night but that's life for now. I am going to attempt to wash my hair tomorrow in the sink which will be fun as I haven't managed to get into the kitchen yet. It's more of a mental block rather than a physical one I think as I have a perching stool in there. Oh well my incentive will be nice clean hair.

Hope you all have a great evening whatever you are up to, take care xx

dumpling, yes he was 10 days late so it was getting a bit stressful. Unfortunately they are now in hospital because they think he has a slight infection so he is on IV antibiotics. Hopefully only for a couple of days.
