O/S Daily Wednesday 6 November 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
dumpling - so good to hear from you, stay strong and move forward just take baby steps x
Hugs to those that want/need them,. those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Still dark here, but wet underfoot and air is a bit cooler this morning. Not raining at the moment although it is forecast for later.
Dinner last night was beef stew, dumplings, LO mash, veg and small amount of extra gravy. Tonight we'll be having either spanish chicken or hunters chicken, I haven't decided yet, possibly we'll have rice with it.
Yesterday work wasn't as busy, although now and then it was a bit manic, back to my normal office today, I'm now working Saturday to help someone else out and then I'm off for a week next week. Have lots to do.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.
It's 30 degrees and sunny here - no, that must have been a dream, it's actually dark, cold and wet.
Yesterday was busy, as I knew it would be. We had planned to take Dgs out for a walk, as the weather had brightened up considerably yesterday afternoon , then it suddenly deteriorated again. I think our afternoons out with him for the next few months will be visiting garden centres, and anywhere nearby that's indoors.
He's quite happy to sit in the pushchair looking round, and there's a couple of garden centres nearby that do wonderful Christmas displays.
Don't mind going out if its just cold, but there's no sense in walking about in the pouring rain.
I'm going to the U3A meeting this morning, I tend to forget about the monthly meetings, but someone reminded me yesterday.
There's plenty to do here, heaven knows, and I'll do a bit this afternoon.
In the next couple of days I must start Christmas things, get the cake done, and some mincemeat. I'm woefully behind with Christmas shopping as well, usually I'm better organised.
I asked a friend if we could stop buying for each other after this year, and she was quite happy to do that, and there's another friend that I'll ask.. It's not necessarily the money, but the problem of what to buy, I find. hough it's always good to save a bit of money.
Hey ho, it's all first world stuff isn't it.
Well, I'll stop waffling, and wish everyone a good Wednesday, thinking of the poorly and those struggling with life.
take care folks0 -
Morning all
Not raining here atm but more due later I think, Im getting fed up of rain now.
Dumpling I am so pleased to see you back enjoy your new start, and wow thats some kick start to your weight loss xx
Off to work for me roast dinner today and some soup to make and possibly a cake too.
Dinner tonight will be some filled pasta with salad and garlic bread so an easy but nice meal,
Bins have gone out this morning and I will need to have a sweep through tonight.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. By heck it's parky this morning and the roof tops that I can see look coated in frost. Brr. The heating is on to take the chill off.
It's bus trip day for The Golden Oldies today. We have still to decide where to go out of our limited choices! Of course lunch (and wine) will be on the agenda as usual. Plus much talking and catching up on any gossip.
There is a bit of an uproar in our village. Permission has been granted for the building of 100 houses in the fields that lead up to the moors. And, as if that wasn't enough, permission is now sought to build 50 "affordable" houses in the fields at the start of the village on the town side. Apparently permission was granted for the latter when the fields were first sold but nothing happened. Lots of people are not happy, especially those whose view over the fields and countryside will be lost.
Well time I got myself moving. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of TRU and family and DUMPLING. You let your lovely family cosset you until you are back on your feet. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All

Morning :hello:
Ooooh dumpling I'm so pleased to see you!
taff and gers Thanks for the info about the info about breathing – this is exactly what FIL is doing while he's asleep. When he's awake (which isn't often) he still does it but it doesn't sound quite as bad.
He's had a lot of visitors so I've backed off a bit. I think it's doing mr tru and his brothers some good to see how many people want to visit him.
I managed to get the curtains finished so they were back up by 6pm. It feels like a massive achievementIt didn't make a difference with fireworks though, a nearby house had big boomy fireworks and they sent Scamp into a frenzy. I hear could a lot of other dogs locally getting stressed too  I was tempted to go and check on the chickens but they go into a sort of trance when they're asleep and sleep through pretty much anything so it would've been worse if I'd woken them by unlocking their shed. I let them out just now, they're all fine.
Not sure what to do today, I'll just potter about tidying bits and pieces as I go.Bulletproof0 -
Good morning folks.
I had a funny old day yesterday, slouched around in pjs all day feeling strangely lethargic. DM stepped up to do lots of things for herself - making breakfast, washing dishes, making lunch, folding the washing etc. I think it was a reaction to so much medication, it all builds up. Anyway, apart from small intervals of activity, I spent most of the day horizontal and then managed a really deep long overnight sleep. Now I feel better.
It's so much colder today, could be time to get the winter jacket out. I'll be visiting a friend later this morning, time for them car to defrost.
Now off to start my day... happy Wednesday to everyone.0 -
Morning everyone
Just popped in to add my good wishes to Dumpling - it's lovely that you're home
Travelling A - when I moved into this house 4 years ago there was planning permission in place for another 120 houses to be built on the adjacent fields - they still haven't been built!
DD and I took baby grand daughter to the local firework display last night. I admit I thought we'd be there 2 minutes, she'd scream and we'd come home again. I couldn't have been more wrong...she loved them...laughing and smiling and watching them all! I spent half the time watching her face.
Hope everyone has a good day ...I have a late start today, don't need to leave for work till 11.300 -
Good morning,
Dumpling - Great to see you back. Rest up in the comfort of your own home with the care and love of your family and friends around you. And us here, of course!
My neck was still giving me some pain yesterday, so I toke some of the strong pain killers which again made me feel unwell. Anyway, I powered through the day and went to physio. I 'enjoyed' half an hour of acupuncture and deep tissue massage from his elbow (!!!) and he then gave me some advice on my neck too. Rest up is the orders really.
With this in mind, no gym this morning. I might pop in after work but we'll see, as I'm planning on staying late in work.
TA - "It's parky this morning"...parky? Does that mean cold?0 -
Welcome home Dumpling. Having also had a major health issue this year i would say rest up but try each day and do just a little bit more because it all adds up and you build up your strength and stamina xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Dumpling, how lovely to hear from you. I hope you'll continue to improve at home. Well, I'm sure you will!
My little family out for the day so I'm going to do a Friday Tidy on Wednesday as their absence means nobody will moan about noisy hoovering or whatever.
Taff I do have a wild bit outside with wood, fallen leaves etc for beetles, bugs and whatever but this is a very treey-thronged area so an enormous amount of leaves, some will become leaf mould but not all.
Right, time to get on.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
