Euro Car Parks

Hi

I have received a parking charge notice from these guys and was interested to know if my best move would be to appeal or just ignore altogether? I don't think I have much grounds for appeal as it was down to me being in a rush and not noticing signs. In hindsight they were quite obvious. I read about ECP never taking people to court which has prompted my question. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Just do what the NEWBIES thread says, and appeal is not the first thing suggested!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Hello again and thanks for your responses. I think I'm au fait with the process now i.e 26 days. Apologies but the thread was a bit of an overload on the senses late last night! I guess I was interested to know what would happen if someone were to ignore from the get go. Is that likely to end up in a court summons however far down the line? Im more than happy to follow the advised process however and take the cowboys on.

At the time of writing ECP are fairly benign.

You will never get a court summons - this is not a criminal matter.

They do however, have six years in which to work out how to sue you.

Some people want to get rid of these matters as soon as possible, but if you are prepared to put up with six years of threatening letters, then ignoring is an option. Just remember to tell ECP every time you move home so that you don't get a County Court Claim with no opportunity to defend it.

But appealing at day 26 is not the first thing to do (and that delay is ONLY for windscreen PCNs, which ECP rarely issue!) It is pointless delaying till day 26 for ANPR cases.

See the NEWBIES thread, read it closely. APPEAL IS NOT THE FIRST THING TO DO.
