Change ownership title to include someone else?

Not sure if this is the best section but I want to change the title of my property to also include someone else. From what I can see you just fill in a form and send a fee. Can anyone confirm if that is all there is to it?

I presume you don't have a mortgage or any other charges/restrictions?
  • No mortgages. All paid up :-)

Then if the property is registered, read the guidance I linked, complete the forms, and either get a solicitor to verify the ID (some cost) or take the forms to a Land Registry Office where they will ID you for free.

Be careful re 'why' (not asking, just saying do some research). If they're a FTB, you may not be doing them any favours.

If the "someone else" ever gets divorced or made bankrupt, there is a risk that the property may need to be sold. Do you really want to take that risk if it is your home ?

Get yourself some proper, paid for, legal advice that sets out the risks and advantages (if any).
