Looking for the cheapest boiler indemnity insurance

Hi,
Does anyone with some knowledge of this have a recommendation for cheap boiler installation indemnity insurance.
It's a requirement for selling our house. We don't have the certificate of installation, and it doesn't appear on any of the Corgi systems so there we go.
Again - looking for people with actual experience and recommendations.

Probably easiest and cheapest to let your solicitor get it - the indemnity insurers tend not to deal with the public direct. Or just tell your buyers to arrange it themselves.0

Nope.
The solicitors quote was £310.
I've already got a quote for £170.
I'm not interested in having a fight with my buyer over £170.
Again.
If anyone actually has experience of this, that would be brilliant.0 -
Yes, I was quoted £12 by a solicitor a few days ago.0

Indemnity against what? Surely a service and gas safe check is much more valuable than a document riddled with get out clauses. As I've said before, these solicitor sold indemnity policies are going to be the new PPI before long.Signature on holiday for two weeks0

They are supposed to cover against Building Control saying it hasn't got a certificate and order them to remove said boiler. If its been there for more than 5 years then BC cannot order it removed, and BC will never inspect anyway so the indemnity is covering something that isn't going to happen.
You are correct though, a service and safety check is all you need, but solicitors do not have any common sense. Shame as you paid them a lot of money to deal with buying and selling with no common sense.0 -

Crazy isn't it?
As Corgi has been mentioned that means it's at least 10 years old.
There's nothing to indemnify against.0 -
We had the same thing on the flat we are purchasing. Our seller refused to pay for it as the flat is 10 years old, and they have current safety certificates, but our solicitor still insisted on it. We were quoted just under £100.0

They can't insist on it, only advise you or strongly recommend something. Unless the lenders terms stipulate something, it is up to you, the client to take into account all information then say "thank you very much, but no thanks and proceed to exchange".Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -

Yes - thats fair enough. Sadly I have no clue on legal matters, so I'm just going with their advice!0 -
You'll not find many people here with actual experience of buying it. As has been said, it's a waste of money and this is a moneysaving site.Hi,

If it was installed by a CORGI engineer it must be 10+ years old.
The policy insures against the council inspecting (which they won't) within 4 years, and ordering you to remove, replace or remedy the boiler.
Save your money and give the buyer a recent service or inspection report which will tell give far more relevant information. If they want to pay for a pointless insurance that will, can, never pay out, let them.0
