Speed Camera

Hi - I recently read a post where there is supposed to be a certain period of time between a change of speed limit and a subsequent speed camera. I read 1 minute but can someone confirm if that is the case in Scotland?

Do you mean a minute in terms of driving time? I've never heard that before and know of plenty of cameras which are closer than that.

You would probably be better taking this over to the motoring forum or pepipoo.com. You will need to register on pepipoo with a non-Hotmail email address before reading the FAQs then posting your query.

I don't see why there should be, the speed limit starts at the sign, not a minute after it. I also know of a number of speed cameras which are just past a change of limit.

if it were a minute then you could be through the 20mph speed limit area outside the school down the road long before the limit area ended never mind passed the camera.

I think the OP might be referring to variable speed limit signs - how soon after the displayed limited changes does enforcement begin at the new speed?

    Moved to Motoring.

The 60 seconds relates to the variable speed limit signs used on motorways.

This is the time between the speed changing to a new limit and the new limit being enforced by gantry cameras.
  • Thanks Daveyjp and all for responses. Should’ve been clearer in ask. Question answered
