TUI VISA - Incorrect Information

Comments

  • TUI instruct their customers to check with the visa company who are their partners. .

See above. All of them are Gov.uk links.
  • Except that TUI are the airline themselves.

TUI instruct their customers to check with the visa company who are their partners. It is reasonable for someone in Alice's position to do as told, and then to rely on the written advice provided by the experts. It is really not helpful to tell someone who has been the victim of professional incompetence that they should have done the job themselves.

Fair comment but Alice hasn't even said it was a TUI flight, only that TUI gave her incorrect info. That sounds like it was someone in store, so not necessarily a TUI flight or holiday.

I booked mine in store. Still got an email with the wording above on it. Your own responsibility to check.

Still would like to know what country it was and what was actually said, mind.
  • I did do my own research however the visa application process seemed to be completely inappropriate considering we would only be in that country to fly home (this was for a cruise)
This is when I spoke to TUI and they told me that as we were arriving by sea we would not need a visa, hence I didn’t get one.
  • Thank you for your reply.

I had done the research myself and was I the process of applying for a visa although the process seemed very long winded considering it was for a country that we were only arriving in to fly back to the uk (it was the last stop of a cruise) this is when I referred to TUI and they reassured me that as we were arriving by sea we would not need a visa.

Right Im confused......which boarding gate were you turned away from if the visa only concerned the final country on the cruise that you were flying back from?

In any case none of this changed the fact you have been compensated in full for the holiday, plus more, chances of any more are remote imo.

Fascinating... my guess is that the country was either India or the USA.

Anyway, it is clear that someone from TUI talked nonsense and you were very fortunate (or careful) to get that in writing. Otherwise you would have lost the entire cost of your holiday.

(Many countries -- but not the USA -- exempt people from the normal visa requirements if they are in transit, but these concessions are generally only available if they are arriving by air.)
  • It won't be the USA, TUI cruises don't go anywhere near there. March '19 would most likely have been a relocation cruise, probably from the far east.

Alice didn't say it was a TUI cruise. To be fair she's not clarified what she booked and how. Drip feeding info isn't the best way of getting advice.
