Mehefin, good luck with the new mare, hopefully she'll settle quite quickly.

AOD, ouch. I woke last week with two big purple bruises, one on each leg at the same height as if something had been rammed into my thighs. I have no idea how it happened.

Laura spent the afternoon at the hospital being monitored but was then sent home, the wait goes on.

SM shop today and then I'll do some sewing, I have a couple of chair cushion covers to make. If the rain doesn't stop Ziggy won't get a long walk today.

Morning all! Fairly productive yesterday, the garden is down now and the the compost bin is full. It would have been only half full but the straw bale I was experimenting with and totally gone so was layered up with the cardboard I'd been hogging in the lean to [which is now much clearer yay!]. Conclusion v straw bale is that it does work, but it would probably work better with something green and leafy since the nitrogen production was probably through the roof as it rotted. I had tomatoes in there and they did produce really well [ except i wasn't here to pick them] but were very late compared to other outdoor tomatoes.
Swept the back patio and will have to get the green bin there to put all the needles in. Will also have to rake around the back and sides of the patio, there's about a foot and a half of ground around it tha gets covered in needles that the neighbourhood cats think is a great outdoor litter box.

Today I'll make a veg soup for lunch using the beans that were taken off esterday and some celery that's left in the garden with a carrot and potato probably..
Tonight we are going to eat out, then see a film [cheap Tuesday], and this afternoon I have a hospital appointment [another head doctor, but specifically for ex cancer] so we'll see how that one goes.

Found my suitcase was full of clothes yesterday too which means I'll be making another trip to the people buying clothes shop.
All this talk of potatoes and foil and bonfire night reminds me when I was younger and in school, my friend and I would go to the country park every year in the last few days before school started again and make a small fire and cook tinfoil potatoes in it. They were lovely with salt and butter and hot hot hot...

AOD, hope it's nothing serious, and if you didn't fancy raking them, they're very good for wildlife :) enjoy the bonfire meal! redruby, take it easy...Scarlet, laughing at the violently coloured cupcakes! mehefin, hope she settles in quickly with you and the mares...snoozer has she done all the usual things people suggest? the curry etc....
Hey everyone reading along...nice to see you yesterday nanny, and no wonder you lost it with him, hope it improves for you..and dumpling, hope you're doing better..Tidying up Tuesday...

    Good morning all,
The rain has given way to blustery wind so loads more leaves on the car, road etc. I was a bit late taking the pooch out today. The recycling bins have been done earlier and they were collecting alongside the park. One of the council workers stopped and looked at Ly1a and was whistling at her ( deffo wasnt at me :D) wanting me to go and say hello. I just smiled and carried on - he doesnt realise she hates men in high vis vests, especially when accompanied by a bin wagon ( she runs upstairs to hide from them ):rotfl:
Hope baby arrives soon Snoozer x
AOD - I say Good morning 3 times to a magpie and salute it ( only if no-one's around :rotfl:) No idea where I get that from !
Mehefin good luck with the new arrival- you sound a bit brighter :)

Still no date for Aunties funeral, apparently it's been referred to the coroner :(
Pork steaks for tea. I nipped into town for an hour yesterday and picked up a few ys meat bargains from marks, they seem to have finished the trial here where they sent it to a homeless charity.
Hope dumpling is ok, and other poorlies too xx

    Well hello everyone :hello:

I'm home! I was allowed to leave the hospital yesterday and I have to admit I have cried buckets since out of sheer relief and gratitude. My dining room has been transformed into a bedroom with a very fancy schmancy electric bed and a commode...not so fancy but very necessary :o:)

Thank you all for thinking of me. I am very weak and wobbly but my brain is firing on all cylinders again thank goodness. Steve has been so so wonderful, he is resigning from work to care for me as he says I am more important to him than his job. He is absolutely shattered as you can imagine but very happy to have me back. The kids are fabulous and I got a very rare and treasured hug from Lilly. The dogs were over the moon to see me too, I really feel loved and cared for.

What else...Oh I lost 2 and a half stone which is a welcome side effect and I am on a strict diet following the principles I learned in Hospital. I have been given a second chance and I am not going to waste it. I unpacked my meds last night and found a DNAR form for me (Do Not Attempt Resuscitation) which has upset me a lot but I am going to keep it as a reminder. I am so sorry to have put my family through this and I am determined to do my best to get healthy and well.

I can't read through the past 4 and a half weeks to see what I have missed but I am sending you all hugs and kisses. Take care xxxxxxxxx

    Hello all
Another reasonable day today health wise, I just hope it lasts.
Spent the morning at the surgery, this time it was for Mr Fix It's diabetic check up. That's all we seem to be doing lately, his surgery or mine. It's my turn again on Friday........ I think we'll have to move in !
This afternoon we have been looking at new DW's as ours has finally gone to the scrappy yard in the sky. It has done well though and given about 15 years or more service. Think we have decided on one model now so will order it unless we change our minds by tomorrow :rotfl:.
Yesterday I went with DD to watch DGS during his swimming club, he's good at most strokes except breast stroke when he can't kick his legs properly. I told him be a frog not a whales tail, he nearly soaked us a couple of times :rotfl:. While there DD told me one of her school mates is very poorly. She's had a double breast mastectomy and now needs a drug not on the NHS list to keep the cancer at bay, so they are crowdfunding and have collected £30,000 in a week ( she needs £45,000 ). I wish I had a few thousand to give as bless her she's only 35. Puts my moaning into perspective :(.

Dumpling I'm so pleased you are home :) Take care of yourself.
Mehefin good luck for tomorrow and I hope new horsey settles in quickly.
    Sending everyone a hug today.
    Take care all
    nan xx

Welcome back Dumpling I hope you are well on the road to recovery and will soon be your old self again. Its a dreadful thing sepsis and so long gone often undiscovered until too late. Second chance for you my dear make the most of every day xx

Odd sort of day today I had to go to s'bugs to find out for my eldest Dd when the double up of points were ,so sorted that out fairly quickly ,then to the post office for DGS Mikey to post off a parcel for him that he sold on ebay, then to the lovely lady who is a local tailor as she is making me my new winter coat I have to have it made because having lymphodema means one are is larger than the other so to get a coat to fit over my arm I have to buy it about three sizes too big.So I decided to have one made to measure I had originally chosen a blue tweedy one and today had to go and ick the lining out. When I got there I was talking to her and was saying the first coat I ever bought for myself in 1959 when I started working was bright red and how much I had always loved red (I even have a red car ) I think it's such a cheerful colour and always brightens me up

She said if you want we can change the colour and I will get red material for you.Out came the swatches again and I plumped for a nice cheerful red with a red lining :). As she said the chances of me finding a bright red coat to fit is a bit remote so i thought well why not have what I really like So I shall be wearing in about 4 weeks and nice cheerful coloured coat that will actually fit me properly No idea how much yet it will cost but I thought why not treat myself so I have :):):) Goodness knows what my two DD's will say :) probably just say "Oh Mum" :) I will probably get a conservatively coloured one next year perhaps, but this year I am going to be a rebel:)

Hope everyone is warm and dry, the weather is looking a bit dark and grey again, more like April showers the past few days ,sunny one minute, then bucketing down the next

Right DGS Mikey is calling for food (I swear that boy has hollow legs :))

Take care chums and keep warm

    JackieO xx

Dumpling, your post was just what I needed to give me a boost, I've been sitting here worrying about Laura and feeling a bit pants but I am thrilled that you are home and look forward to many more posts from you.

What has me both worried and very cross is the doctor who said to Laura yesterday that the longer she goes the higher the risk of stillbirth.

snoozer - I'm angry for you! What a dreadful thing to say. I hope that Laura is not taking it badly.

Dumpling - how delightful to 'see' you back. Yes, a second chance is what you have, I'm sure you'll be embracing it wholeheartedly. Good on Steve. Please make sure he claims Carers Allowance (for his NI record) and that you claim Attendance Allowance too. The form for that can be downloaded or you can phone DWP for it. If you phone up your claim will be backdated to that date. Emphasis what you cannot do.

Jackie - you made me smile with your story about a red coat. You should definitely get whatever colour you want. I bought a red car last year as I've always wanted one and never did, and I just love it.

I've been fairly lazy today, more pain than I expected. Only a week and a bit now. Today I've put a good friend on my car insurance for a month. He'll drive it sometimes to keep the battery going. I'm not using it every day the way I used to.

The friend I planned to visit asked me to go tomorrow instead of today, that suited me fine.

Already I've closed my bedroom curtains as I want to read. There's meant to be a big chill coming later this week so I'm all ready for it.
  • Afternoon folks. Just popped back on for a catch up of late news and what a lovely surprise to read DUMPLING is home and on the road to recovery. You do everything you are told young lady, don't want you back in hospital again.

SNOOZER grr to that doctor alarming you all with such a statement. Surely if there was any risk of a stillbirth she would be in and getting induced.

JACKIE I am another lover of red, In fact I am sitting here in a bright red chunky woollen cardigan as I speak!

I had the usual lovely meet up with my DF and enjoyed a yummy lunch too. Afterwards we had a browse for the birthday present I wanted for DS's DP and ended up with a Totes brolly in navy, decorated with cute little dachshunds and edged in a fuchsia colour. Then I spotted some leather gloves in the same fuchsia shade. A perfect match so present sorted!

After my big lunch I don't feel too hungry as yet so I think I will just settle for a mug of my lentil & bacon soup with a ham salad bagel.

Just had a text off DS to say he and DP are bringing the ladders back shortly that are stored in my garage. There isn't room in theirs!!

Have a nice evening folks xx
