O/S Daily Tuesday 5 November 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a bpoorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, wet underfoot with laying water, the heavy rain woke me earlier, but now seems to have stopped but rain is forecast for the coming days. Not too cold though.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg - I had baked fish and veg. I remembered to get the beef stew out to defrost - it's LO's from when I've cooked extra - so tonight will be stew and dumplings, mash and LO veg from Sunday's roast.
Yesterday work was manic - it was the busiest Monday we've had in a good while - I'm working at the other office today so that will be a change.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Dry start this morning, better than yesterday when it steadily rained all day, quite a stiff breeze later on too.
Washing on the rack and house relatively tidy, I gave my bedroom a deep clean at the weekend (those dust bunnies were racing across the wooden floor!), I think I've slept better since.
Nothing much happening here, haircut tonight - not sure it really needs it.
Hugs to those in need, any word on dumpling? Hope you're ok MM. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another drab and dismal day in store for us according to the forecast.
It's my Tuesday coffee and lunch meet up day. Wonder what I will be tempted by today! Could do with a browse in the shops (such as we have got!) afterwards as it's DS's DP's birthday at the w/e and not bought her present yet. I m slacking!
Not a lot planned for when I get home this afternoon. This miserable weather makes me feel lazy and lethargic.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of TRU and family and DUMPLING especially. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Very dark and cold here today I think we are due more rain later, the village pond has burst its banks and the roads are all flooded lets hope there is some let up in the rain for a while.
Off to work today but nice quiet Tuesday so all good, I have some bits to do in the office today so will get to sit for a while which will help the foot situation.
Dinner tonight will be spag bol which I love, I always put some olives in the meat mixture which give it a lovely flavour.
Must do a wash tonight will have to use the td to dry it though.
Dumpling hope you are ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning :hello:
CFAF Sorry you're going through the same x It's difficult to get the balance right sometimes isn't it? I'll be halfway through something practical (and useful – I think!) and I'll get “can you just come to this place with me?” and I can never seem to decide which thing is needed more at that particular time.
Funnily enough, mr tru retreated to the shed for a while on sunday night. Must be a man thing, lol.
Master tru has been in Cornwall so last night was the first time he's seen FIL since he went into hospital, must admit I was worried about him making it back in time (though of course I didn't tell anyone what I was thinking!).
The weather cleared up not long after I posted yesterday. Scamp was happy to amble about, but wasn't happy to see people. I changed our route several times so those evil beings didn't get too close to himHe had a good long walk though and was very relaxed when we got home.
I didn't get my work done yesterday, there's no rush though. I sat and enjoyed being on my own, with no phone calls, for a little while.
I slept all night last night, I feel almost human this morningI wanted to shorten the lounge curtains last week, I managed to get one pair done but the others are still waiting. I'll take the other pair down in a mo, I can't promise they'll be finished today but I'll wash and dry them then at least pin the new hem. I might have to throw a couple of sheets over the curtain rail later, to block Scamp's view of any fireworks that are going off, lol.

Good morning, the weather's terrible here, heavy rain that started last night, and is still on the go.
Thanks for starting NMLC.
I'll be going to TaiChi this morning, and Dgs will be here for his usual Tuesday visit by the time I get back.
It's our local residents' association meeting tonight, at which I take the minutes, then we'll be back out for the quiz, so it's a busy day ahead.
Dgd came from school yesterday afternoon, and she wanted to bake after tea, so we made these little sponge cakes - she added quite a lot of food colouring , so they were quite vibrantly coloured to say the least. They tasted nice though.
Really I could do with a day at home to catch up a bit, but it'll have to be later in the week.
Thinking of everyone who is ill or struggling with life, especially Tru's Fil and his family.
Take care folks, in this nasty weather0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Cloudy here with yet more rain forecast O happiness and joy. I've just done a small load of washing and that will have to be dried indoors on airers, yesterday's washing is mostly dry. We are now putting the heating on for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours late afternoon and that's helping with the washing turnaround. It was more of a challenge a month or so back when it was still warmish and heating couldn't be justified.
On Sunday I managed to get something in my eye, no idea what but I felt it - and spent yesterday with one normal eye and one bright red, not necessarily the best look. It still feels a bit scritchy so might get mr aod to get some eye drops, I don't think we have any. We do have some plasters and some paracetamol that's only a few years out of date but those don't really work for sore eyes!
Today we will have our traditional bonfire night meal which is spare ribs, pigs in blankets and salad. The mister and the son have tomato soup but I don't like that, I could make a vegetable soup but probably cba.
I went to see a friend yesterday and to the post office with some items I'd knitted for another friend, a hat and a huge scarf which took a couple of weeks. Back to the trauma teddies now.
Today, if we don't get too much rain, it will be back to raking up leaves. It is lovely to have all these big trees but the raking is constant. Still, it is fresh air and exercise. I am not a nice woman, I've been watching the leaves fall and am secretly pleased when they go either in the stream or in someone else's also garden. Also need to remove a plant from a stone planter, remove the earth and put in some crocks, then replant as it is not draining - it was but there has been so much rain that now it is getting waterlogged and if not sorted out, it will just rot.
Do other people have special words to say when they see a single magpie or is it just me?
Thinking of you all, especially those who are unwell or facing challenges.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone,
My neck feels slightly better than yesterday but the pain killers (co-codamol and naproxen) make me feel quite light headed and like my stomach is spinning. So much so I went to bed at 8pm last night and had a shocking night sleep, regularly waking up throughout the night.
So, when my alarm went off at 5am for the gym, I was already wide awake so I got up, made breakfast and a coffee and went to the gym to do some stretching of my legs and sat on the bike for a bit, making sure I didn't aggravate my neck. Coincidently, I've got the physio tonight for my knee, might ask him about my neck while I'm there, as long as he doesn't charge me another £47.50! Something light and easy for dinner tonight, bacon and eggs of some sort.
A busy day ahead in work. Yesterday was the same and I love those days. Feel so productive and the time absolutely flies by.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need especially tru.
Cooking for stroke club today so I'll be knackered this evening.
Have a good day everyone

Morning all from mehefinland
Well after a turbulent weekend things have settled down a bit. Went for a quick ride on Scoobymare yesterday which was my first in nearly 7 months, and only the second or third time I had ridden her in the 21 years we have had her! ( Mrs M hogs her lol). It was strange as she is SO different to my poor old Bruisemare, but no John Wayneimpressions this morning. It will probably be tomorrow.
The new girl on the block arrives tomorrow ( we deliberately delayed it until after bonfire night as it can get quite noisy around here) and there will be fireworks enough when she meets the other two if previous experience is to go by!
Hugs and spoons to those in need

Good morning everyone.
No rain (yet) but chilly outside. I like a cold Bonfire Night, even though I don't do anything for it. I remember these as a child. Having a huge bonfire with potatoes wrapped in foil inside it, checking for animals before lighting it. Somehow I feel that cinder toffee and toffee apples made an appearance to though they may have been left over from Halloween.
My night was disturbed too, no idea why, so I'm a tad sleepy still. I had a tentative plan to visit an older friend who had her hip replaced six weeks ago, I'll see how I feel later this morning.
Fridge still has enough supplies for today and tomorrow so no real need to go out even though I'm chomping at the bit for a walk. Trouble is that it really hurts so I need my head to win this battle.
My thoughts to all the missing. Happy Tuesday folks.0
