Balance Transferring doesn't involve a credit check, so I am not sure why you were told to check your file.0

Exactly, I agree completely. There have been no further soft/hard checks on any of my reports, to further reiterate this, so I'm unable to comprehend what logic they're using.
They claim that the information supplied by Experian is not allowing them to proceed with any further balance transfer on my account at this stage, and that to check my file to "ensure my circumstances haven't changed".
It's utter nonsense on their part.
"We can't divulge exactly what Experian are saying to decline your transfer, as we can't see it ourselves, although it could be a change in your circumstances, or perhaps a change in our lending strategies algorithm which no longer qualifies you"
Not allegedly eligible for a 0% balance transfer that I'd been preapproved for, and still see the offer in my account for, but perfectly fine to lend a larger amount to at 20.9% APR. Clearly their lending strategies are to gauge the customer with a bait-and-switch offer.
I'm also not the first person this has happened to, as there was another post around a week ago on this forum with exactly the same situation. Something clearly stinks on MBNA's part.0 -
Experian aren't declining the transfer - their system, for whatever reason, is declining it.
Are you 100% certain your Virgin card isn't an MBNA one?0 -

I'm 100% certain.
I find it offensive they're shifting the blame to Experian, when it's a CRA, and not a lender.
The "Complaints Manager" I spoke to claimed there is nobody who can override the decision, nor am I able to speak to anyone else (ie: a BT Manager) regarding the matter to explain further.0 -
It may be an anomoly card that they don't accept.
Like some providers won't accept BT's from Amex or AA cards or Sainsbury's cards, amongst others.0 -

I can rule this out as unfortunately the process doesn't reach the stage of giving the card number or amount I wish to BT, it's simply blanket declined from the get-go.0 -
Did you manage to get anywhere further with this one? I was trying to transfer a balance to my mbna card and it was declining (never had this before) then I did some digging and saw lloyds group now control mbna. They told me exactly the same on the phone - it’s because when you submit the transfer it is declined due to the system check and your credit report. So I waited a while checked both credit reports and no searches appeared after 6 weeks.
Now they seem to have blocked balance transfers on my halifax, lloyds and mbna cards. I’ve no minus or bad credit and never missed a payment in over 10 years of owning the cards.Audi - Vorsprung durch Technik0
