DVLA Fine

Hi all,
Very frustratingly I’ve just discovered I’ve received a fine from the DVLA for driving with no tax, £38 if paid before 27/10. They sent my reminder and the fine letter to an old address. I only know because I stopped by to pick up post. I HAVE updated my address with the DVLA.
I know it is 100% my fault for not taxing the car and am happy to pay any fine, in this case the £38 which I have done as soon as I read the letter.
The letter reads, if not paid before 27/10, I will be taken to court.
I paid today as soon as I saw the letter. My question is, will this effect my credit file?
It is so frustrating I’ve updated my address with them but they’ve sent all correspondence to my old address casing me to miss this letter although of course I agree I should have been more vigilant with the tax and paid it, it’s only £30 per year!
Thanks all

Thanks! So I shouldn’t have anything on my credit history now I’ve paid? I’m going to ring them first thing tomorrow, I am just really concerned as I have a mortgage application in a few months.0

Why was the address not updated ?
Is your insurer aware of your new address ?
Really should make a note of when things are due, write on a calender or 1 on your phone.0 -
The address WAS updated, I told the DVLA a few weeks after moving in. No idea why it has all been sent to my old address. Insurance is fully aware of the address change, charged me £25 to change it.0

Just to add, the DVLA have even sent me a new driving License with my new address on, so frustrating they haven’t sent this letter to an old address.0

Driving licence and the vehicle registration certificate are 2 separate things.
Have you had a new vehicle registration certificate?0 -
Thanks for the reply Marvel, I realised that too late, I assumed if I had updated my address with the DVLA, they would contact me at the updated address no matter what.
No I haven’t had the new document, incidentally a few months ago, about 4 months after moving in I registered the car on a personalised plate, this was when it was still taxed with no issues though. Never had the documents back which is actually what prompted me to go and see if I had any post at the old address.
I will be absolutes GUTTED if this damages my credit file. :-(0
