Esa113

Ok so sent esa50 back and then was advised that the healthcare professional wanted to write to my gp.. the ever helpful esa113.
So my gp has completed it but basically not ticked any boxes and just wrote in the box stating all she knows is what I’ve told her in during my telephone appointments. They’ve included a print off of all my medications and confirmed all diagnosed conditions and dates and included letters from consultants but basically inferred she doesn’t know me and any symptoms are the only ones I’ve told her about.
So based on this and the fact she hasn’t ticked any boxes does a f2f seem likely??

F2F is usual but as we don’t know your health conditions and what your consultant letters say it’s impossible to say.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

OP - did you send enough information on your conditions from hospitals?

If you did, I don't think ESA people will write to your GP. If you didn't, they did you gather more information.

I hope someone on here to clarify this answer for you.

    All the best
  • Thank you for the super quick reply.
I have complex endometriosis I’ve had surgery but that’s failed so on waiting list for specialist unit surgery which is confirmed in letters but I sent all these letters off with esa50. Waiting list time is circa 9 months.
I’ve also got it on my bowel which is further complicated it (sorry for too much info)
  • I sent over 30 pages including consultants letters confirming conditions and previous esa85 assessment report... obviously not info but I’m worried that as the gp has failed to state in HER eyes I have problems and it’s only what I’ve told her then I’ll get called for f2f.
It’s a reassessment for Esa as I’m currently in the support group
  • That should say obviously not sent enough info

It is quite normal for a GP to say this. They only see you briefly, even if they see you frequently. Although they know what health conditions you have been diagnosed with they don’t know how your health conditions affect you other than from what you tell them.

There’s no way of knowing in advance whether or not you will have a F2F, but it is usual.

  • So do most people get called for f2f then based on poorly written esa113?

Post people get called for a F2F. To the best of my knowledge, ESA113 is not usually issued at all.

DWP guidance to doctors on the use of the ESA113 says
“We ask you to complete this form if we think that the patient may have a severe health condition or disability but do not have enough information to be sure.”

  • So they are confirming whether you have said health conditions or not??

I'm really not sure what other advise you want other than what's already been advised here and on your previous thread asking about the ESA113 form. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6061703/esa113

As calcotti has already advised, there's only so much information a GP can give because they rarely see you. They will look at your medical records for the information and go from that.

As has been advised several times across different threads, most people have face to face assessments so you should expect one of those. If one isn't needed then it's a bonus. In the meantime there's nothing more you can do but wait.
