Should I fight this PCN?

Apologies for a new thread. I have read the Newbies thread and actually used the template there in the past to get two PCNs cancelled. I just need clarification on this as I'm not sure of myself here.
I have a PCN from Britannia.
The very quick bullet point facts are:
* I was driving on a main road when I received a phonemail with some unexpected and not-great family news.
* I pulled into a Brittania carpark and sat in the car for 46 mins, whilst I finished the call and processed the news.
* I drove off and forgot to pay.
I've now received a postal PCN. (£100 down to £60 if paid in 2 weeks etc) It mentions that it is a NTK, and clearly mentions POFA 2012 on the front page.
I have used the Britannia appeals page and used the Newbie template.
I haven't heard back yet but I assume they will give me a POPLA code.
My question is, is this worth me fighting it?
I clearly didn't pay, and I have no excuse really, (apart form being in a bit of a pre-occupied mental state at the time.)
They seem to have done most things right. I went back to the carpark and looked at the signs. They are new, and numerous. They have signs all around the carpark, visible from every space.
I have no desire to give the cowboys money, but I don't even know where I would start in mounting a defence in a court. I don't seem to have a case?
Any thoughts on how I proceed would be appreciated.

I am not sure you do have a defence, unless the landowner will cancel it for you.
Next time, pay if it's PDT machine car park.
In my opinion, you don't have to show your personal data to scammers. But we don't condone not paying a reasonable fee to park and have never posted or suggested anything like that.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks.
It's frustrating but I suspected that would be the case.
Pre-Beavis I would simply have relied on GPEOL. £60 is a big whack of money for going 26min over their grace-period.
Anyway, my fault for forgetting, and not much I can do about it.0
