Just had a nosy at the poll results. Interesting to see that the majority of the regular poster names I recognise are in the stick with the original offer, whereas I only recognise a couple of names in the drop the price option.

I noticed the same thing! I recognize that sticking to the £380k is the honourable thing. So regular posters with a lot of reputation are unlikely vote on the other option. I wonder what the result might have been had it been an anonymous poll? Maybe some 'Shy Tory effect' could kick in and even out the results?
  • Stick to the old offer of £380k

  • Thanks everyone who contributed to this thread. We will stick to the original offer of £380k. My partner is not fully convinced though!

Offer £350, see what they say.

For the sake of £5k it doesn't seem worth bothering with

I think if I was selling I would tell the agent to ignore all future correspondence from you if you did this.

I think I would expect you to be difficult to deal with and ultimately the deal would collapse.

Just stick to the 380, i mean yes you could be sour faced about it and drop it to 375, but why? Yeah, dont be that person, be happy your offer was accepted , smile and say thank you, then carry on with the sale. Push your luck and drop it by 5 and frankly you open yourself up for a potentially bumpy ride with a belligerent seller that you've just rubbed their noses in it, which frankly ............

    Reduce it to £375k
Personally I voted for reduce but i would have reduced by more and there wasn't that option in the poll.

Absolutely nothing to do with me being new on here, regular on here, a Tory voter or anything else .... lol!

Op, now you've made your decision hope it goes smoothly and keep us updated. It's a fickle market and I'm now looking to buy with no chain but not in any rush I'm just looking interestingly at the psychology of house buying and selling!

Reputation, or bias towards wanting high property prices? Many posters here are not keen on property prices being haggled down for some reason, which is surprising on a money saving site!
