I've been driving for 45 years and have lived in London, now in the Home Counties. I visit London a lot. There is no way I would drive in town now.
Far too many erratic drivers, arrogant cyclists, Deliveroo min wage lunatics, tourists stepping into the road, lane cameras, traffic light cameras, yellow box cameras etc etc.
I always take the train and if I had to get something heavy delivered, would just have it sent by a courier.Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -

I agree, 30odd years ago I regularly drove through the very centre of London but these days I wouldn't consider it.0 -
I echo all the other posters. Don't do it.0

I did it once.
Never again.0 -
Reading all this goes completely against my experiences.
Yes, London can be busy and there are certain parts that are usually a bit of a nightmare, but driving in London is fine. I generally do it over getting the train as it's quicker and cheaper (I live about an hour outside London and it's about £40 on the train plus the tube vs £11.50 CC and a bit of parking). On a Sunday it's a no-brainer - quieter roads and free parking.0 -
London scary? Pah! I've driven in Cairo, that sorts the men from the boys!0

I drive to London regularly and IMO it's no worse that any other city, just bigger, and is (for me) almost always cheaper and more pleasant than the train. There is plenty parking, even in the centre, and isn't too expensive if you use one of the parking apps. It's not even that busy if you avoid certain times.0

I’ve been a passenger in Cairo that was scary enough.0
