Hi guys,
i have bought various dish racks, the cheaper ones to the more expensive ones. All of them lead to eventual rust, which is annoying.
I was wondering if theres some rust prevention i could apply that may have worked for some people?

Buy one in a material that doesn't rust - stainless steel?

Standing water will cause any metal to corrode eventually, even stainless steel to a lesser extent. I've always been a believer that washing up liquid also encourages rust. I just make sure my dishes are properly rinsed and free from soap suds before placing the rack and drain any standing water in the tray underneath when I put dishes away. That's kept my 2 tier dish rack rust free for the last few years and it's a cheap one from TK Maxx.
If you really want to treat it with something, you could use hammerite but it won't leave a nice finish and is a little OTT0 -
Washing up liquid has salt in it.
And stainless will rust as said. These things are made down to a price, and so I doubt if the grade of stainless used is the very best.
It'll also depend on the welds. If they're welded with another material, that'll encourage rust on the joints, and in fact, any welding, even "spot welding" will heat the metal, and change it's structure to tend to make it rust.0 -
