£1k was a very high level estimate including fixing the central locking and window, the replacement of an entire wiring loom (which might not be needed).
We've got a local trusted garage, we'll take it there and see how it goes.

Yes, i would lead from the front in terms of telling them what the leak is likely to be. I've send them the video link. You dont want to get hit with a days "investigating leak" labour.0 -
I have had this problem myself. Luckily I noticed it when I still had a guarantee and before it caused any serious damage. The cloth pad under the spare wheel was wet, and also small amount of water in the space underneath the rear seat. Dealer confirmed it was as Motorguy has already said - poorly sealed vents, I believe underneath the bumper. Issue fixed and has been ok for the last 3 years. Its a DIY job on an older car out of warranty.0
