Joint PPI Claim

HI, my wife made a complaint on a PPI that has came back as upheld. What we didn't know is that it was in joint names so they have halfed the amount given to her. They did say in the letter they would contact me but rather than that happening I am going to give them a call. Before doing so I was just wanting to get my facts right before I do, so any help would be great thanks. What I am wanting to know is, as my wife complained and I did not will they say that the deadline has passed for me and I cant claim my half of the payout ?
Cheers

Why would they contact you at all if they weren't going to payout?

Well they don't know if I am divorced, at the same address that the account is linked to (which I am not ) so how long would you advise I wait on a letter getting sent to a previous address?

I wouldn't wait for any letter.

Contact the Bank directly and tell them you want your portion of the refund!

If it's upheld, it's upheld, there's no complaint to be made because it has already happened.
    Contact them as above.

A complaint was raised before deadline. So, that is irrelevant.

If the complaint is successful, they will pay the money 50/50 (if the joint benefits are that way - sometimes it is or even 100/0. i.e. if only the main earner was covered then the usually pay out only to that main earner).

You just need to contact them to inform them of the address. Have your loan details ready on the phone call so they can identify you as the people handling the PPI complaints may not be employees of the bank and may not have much info about you beyond the data related to the PPI.
  • Thanks to all for the fast replys
