Morning all.
Just wanted to pop in to send copious hugs to Tru and family.
My face was awful over the weekend and I'm afraid I lost my cool with Dad. He was using his " well I'm deaf " answer a few times too many ! Cue me " try turning up your hearing aid then as I'm fed up of shouting ! " I was glad when he went home. Sorry for the rant.
Strangely enough the pain/discomfort feels more manageable today. Good job really as the DGC are here because their school has a training day. The DGD and I will be attempting to make some Xmas cards later, so things could get very messy and that's just me
Mr Fix It had a "Rhod Gilbert moment" at the local hospital for bloods earlier this morning . The blood sucker was on holiday and there was no replacement. He had no notification ( apart from the notice pinned to the wall next to the receptionist......... helpful not !) so he came home spitting feathers at all the excuses he was given.
TA thank you for the tale of your friend who is going through something similar. I had to go to the maxillofacial dept when they diagnosed my TMJD.However it helps to know that I am not alone.
Csarina sorry about your handbag.
Snoozer get your DD on the trampoline :rotfl: My DD was induced but the DGC couldn't wait to arrive and both came early. Hope all goes well.
taff :hello:
Lots of love going to everyone in sack fulls. Healing vibes to the poorly ones and hugs to anyone struggling with life at present.
Take care all

The "light" rain came down with a vengeance earlier so it suddenly didn't seem such a good idea tripping off on the bus anywhere. I would have been soaked just getting to our bus stop to go down into town before catching the second bus!
It's stopped raining now but I cba setting off at this late stage! A couple of neglected jobs have been done, including sorting out the bathroom cabinet and chucking lots of near empty pots etc.
I have selected a new book from my stash to start on after lunch. But first I am going to prune my collection as I have just too many books that I know I will never be tempted to read. Charity bag at the ready and I will put my ruthless head on!
Take care all and good to hear you are feeling a bit better NAN. And grr to the irresponsible dog owners who let their dogs run amok causing mayhem and mess. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Busy morning has given way to a quiet afternoon, eventually.
The window cleaner came to do the flat in between showers. He's self-employed so makes great efforts to come. I hate seeing him perched on the window ledges outside, he hops through the windows like a gazelle.
Then the owner of the cleaning company came, on the dot. He was very young and extremely pleasant. He's going to arrange a cleaner for DM whilst hers' is off. With a bit of luck one can start either next Monday or Tuesday, otherwise it'll be the week after.
I've done a big white wash abs hung it all up. DM's place isn't good for hanging up double bed linens, I works normally take that home with me when I change the bed in the spare room. Now I have to drape the sheet between two chairs and hang the duvet cover over the kitchen table.
Today is a more painful one than yesterday was. I can't find any pattern to it so will just go with the flow.
TA - I'm with you about books! I'll never read them all so will get rid after Christmas, even though it pains me!
Nan - I see that your pain isn't so bad today either, maybe it's the atmosphere or something.
I'm going to plough on with my book. It's almost interesting. :rotfl:0 -
GERS 18 books have gone in the charity bag, and 8 more have a question mark over them. They are all books passed on by a neighbour and my Tuesday friend and not the type of books/authors I usually read. Another good friend and I swap books as we read them as we read a lot by the same authors. I still have enough books left to keep me going for quite some time!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Tru, I've read a few of your posts regarding your father-in-law and it seems we're in a similar position.
My father-in-law is approaching the advance stage of secondary liver cancer. He's just returned from a three week stint in hospital due to dehydration and fluid on his lungs. We don't know how long he has left but, like you, I'm very practical and plough on so that my partner has very little to do.
I too try to encourage my partner to visit. I always say that he'll never regret going to see his dad, no matter how difficult it is.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know you're not alone in your situation.
I can hear my partner banging about in his newly built shed. Who knows what he's doing but I know he's happy for now. The pooch has been walked much to her disgust. It's far too wet for her princess paws and we lost the battle to get her out for longer than half an hour. To be fair she is approaching 11 and being a bull breed, she's very stubborn!
Apart from that we've both had a good day at work with an evening of relaxing ahead of us*.
*Well, just me. My partner is picking up a rowing machine tonight :eek:0 -
