21456kwh is 'only' 2.45kw per hour over the course of a year.

With an all electric flat and a dodgy water heater this is quite possible.

It estimates her future annual consumption is 21546kWh (my 3 bed elec/gas house with 4 occupants is 3788kwH a year) . your house is heated by GAS, your mums by ELECRICITY - do not try to compare 1

It says her 26 Sept to 14 Sept usage is 16666kWh.............. that other figure - on which they are basing the DD is way out. 16666 at say 12p is £2000 so £113 has been meaning an underpay of £90 a month

PS Do you know the night / day split of the 16666 kwh (and who is the supplier)

All meter reads are estimates except the one taken on 18th October.
    Therin lies the rub.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • Absolutely agree about estimated bills but she didn't know the meter wasn't being read and doesn't really understand her bill even now.

I am drafting the letter for her to understand if they have any meter man readings for that property and take it from there.

It is very rare for meter readers to call these days - if customers want accurate bills then they need to read the meters themselves.

There's no reason why you shouldn't set up an internet account for her and whenever a family member sees her read the meter and give you the readings to enter them online.
