Where would I find a ifa that's specialised in this I have tried the investing by myself route and it has returned very well.

All of them are. This is bread and butter stuff for an IFA. However, you may find some not willing to offer services with that amounts you have. and may need to make multiple inquiries.

Sorry to be pedantic AJ.. but risk actually is..or rather can be.

Risk is the relationship between "likelihood" and "consequence".

I know its OT and doesn't help the OP.. but if thinking of your exposure in terms of those two variables such as the "likelihood" of an event happening, and the "consequences" if it does.It may help posters in appreciating exactly what is meant by that word "risk".

I'm thinking of different types of risks.
For example, was OP concerned about the risk the broker/platform would go bust or have serious fraud?
Or concerned about individual investments losing their value?

Or perhaps the risk that there would be too much concentration in one sector or geography?
Or that one dodgy investment manager would a substantial % of the money?

    That's kinda my point.

It doesn't matter what type of "risk" you are considering.

In order to have a "feeling" of where on the risk scale you are think about the "likelihood" of the event and compare against the "consequences".

For example a platform going under would have a low likelihood, but a high consequences versus a fund losing 5% which would be a higher likelihood but the consequences less as then underlying asset is still there.

Personally I find breaking it out to its constitutional parts helps the appreciation of the event.

    Highly OT though.

The OPs current investments are quite modest but he has £170K coming his way . In this case I would presume most IFA's would be happy to take him on ?
