This new version of Comodo is the first that supports Vista. I had the same problem as the OP.

I downloaded Adaware 2007 a couple of months ago and reverted to the old version after a few problems.

Tried Adaware 2007 again last week without any problems so have kept with it.
  • Hi,

well, I got the Ad-Aware 2007 at the weekend and no probs, also got the latest Spybot S&D,

bit of a problem to start with, very slow loading, but got a fix, and is fine now, faster than 1.4, only about 45 mins now,

so might install the Comodo tomorrow, have already got the download, see what happens, will do a system restore first.

Cheers for the ref to AdAware, just the sort of thing I was looking for, will try out 2007 in due course.

I've always found Spybot a slow loader, but it's a good program.

Comodo seems to be OK without the Defense+, much less nagging.

Just noticed, Comodo will not launch from the program menu, but it shows in the list of recent programs above All Programs when clicking on Start.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Downloaded and installed Spybot 1.5.
Initially it was taking approx a minute to appear.
Visited the link above (#15), but only installed the first fix (spybotsd.exe).
The second (includes/domains) fix, I left because it is much older than the one I installed.
Spybot now loads in about 20 secs.
    Move along, nothing to see.
