Hi All
My son has this month moved in with me perminently . His mother has mental health issues and is in full agreement.
My questions are...
How do I arrange for the child allowance to be paid to me?
I am not on his birth certificate (long story) but I believe It is not necessary... Am I right?

If you mean child benefit there is advice here https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit-child-lives-with-someone-elseChange who gets Child Benefit
Only one person can get Child Benefit for a child. Contact the Child Benefit Office if you want someone else to claim Child Benefit.
Explain you want to stop getting Child Benefit.
Explain who you want to get Child Benefit instead.
Tell the other person to make a new claim.
If you change your mind later, you’ll need to make a new claim yourself.
Your son’s mother will need to start the process by saying she wants to stop herclaim.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Thanks for the replies.....
My sons mother has told them that he has moved in with me.
This was 3 weeks ago.
I was holding off to see if they contacted me....but....nothing
So, I assume I have to make a new claim.....
An issue is that I am not on my sons birth certificate.....0
