On UC and sick pay running out

My mum is off work sick and has been claiming UC for a few months. The Jobcentre have told her to put a note on her journal when her SSP runs out, which is imminent.
When she does that, does she also need to say she'll be resigning from work? And can she do it at any point in the assessment period?
She's had a WCA and the decision was LCW.

If she resigns work she should let UC know. However she should think carefully about resigning. If her health improves will she want to return to the work in the future?
If she does resign it doesn’t matter when she does this.
Be aware that if she resigns she may be due holiday pay and this will be taken into account by UC and the UC payment reduced as a result.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

There are no advantages to resigning. If she thinks she may be incapable of continuing, the employer may wish to have a Return to Work interview where she can express her fears. The employer can then make the decision to terminate her contract on the grounds of capability without sanction on either party. Alternatively they may even find lighter duties or different duties if the current role has become too stressful.

Thanks to all who responded. It is definite that she's leaving but it sounds like the process of doing so and informing UC isn't that complicated (she has updated her journal).0
