Hi. I left mcdonalds about 8 weeks ago, i have given them my notice of leave 2 weeks before leaving. I was told that my unused holiday will be included with my final check, however its been 10 weeks and I get nothing. Ive been to the store, talked with managers but all i got was "i will let them know". Ive even sent an email to one of the people in HQ but nothing either. I took 1 week in february then 2 in june, leaving me 1 week left. I left in august.
What should I do? Its in UK

If you don't work the full holiday you need to Prorata the allowance.
You are probably not due any holiday on leaving if you have taken 3 weeks then the BH.
Show us the calculation that you used to get you are owed holiday.0 -

E-mails are the soft option - so easy to ignore. Pick up a phone to HQ and ask!Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
The reason they are ignored by HQ, is that it isn't anything to do with HQ. McDonald's is now a franchise led company - restaurants are privately owned, and it is the owner of that franchise who is the employer (or their company, which is the normal pattern). McDonald's (the company) won't get involved. The poster needs to find the franchise owner.E-mails are the soft option - so easy to ignore. Pick up a phone to HQ and ask!
That said, if the poster has already taken three weeks holiday this year, and left their job two months ago, then they may not actually have any holiday owed. I know they mentioned having worked there for two years, which seemed oddly irrelevant- I am wondering if they think they are entitled to some holiday from a previous year, which, of course, they probably aren't.0 -
Rough calc.
If M give statutory.
Jan-Aug 8month 5.6*8/12=3.74 weeks
3weeks taken
5/6 BH used that leaves you owing days.0 -

...and a phone call to HQ should get that information pretty quickly if e-mails are being ignored.0 -
Just to be clear, they are not all franchised, the larger stores tend to be owned directly by the company."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Unfortunately no, not very often. Contract information is confidential and shouldn't be given out to anyone, even if they have a "good reason". The owner information will be, however, displayed on the public liability certificates that must be displayed....and a phone call to HQ should get that information pretty quickly if e-mails are being ignored.0 -
Very few now - even the big ones are becoming franchises. I only know about this at all (not having ever eaten in one) because someone I know owns several franchises, and that includes a major store in the centre of a very large city. What I am gobsmacked by is what it costs to buy the franchises! It is scary amounts of money.sammyjammy wrote: »Just to be clear, they are not all franchised, the larger stores tend to be owned directly by the company.0
