Hey everybody
Quick one - What is the deal with Barclaycard forward credit limit increases.
When you try to increase it on the app it apparently tells you that you have to wait 2 years (I haven’t tried it myself as I don’t want any searches on my report and I am almost certain to be declined as only had the card a month) however others are telling me that after 6 months they automatically start applying increases if you have paid on time etc.
I can’t find a straight answer for this online and any info I do find seems to apply to the Barclaycard initial.
Does anybody have any knowledge of the process with the Barclaycard Forward.
Thanks

When you’re eligible for an increase you’ll get offered one.0

You can apply for your first increase after 6 months of the account being open0

I had to apply for mine, they weren't offered. I've always paid on time, always been within my limit etc. You can ask for an increase online. Barclaycard Initial's the old name for their Freedom card, same card, just a slightly different name.0

You mean the previous name for this Forward card.
Freedom card was their rewards card.0 -

I think you mean the Forward card used to be the Intial as the freedom card used to be barclays rewards card.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Ah, sorry!! I've had my card for a while and it was stupid o'clock when I replied.0

I've had my Barclaycard Initial/Forward for five years and had two increases, both automatic, the first after six months, the second after a further eight months.
I've not bothered to apply for any further increases as I rarely use this card now, just a very small purchase occasionally to stop it going dormant.Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.

I got mine in April 2019. Initial limit was £250. It was increased in early September to £650. It was automatically done.
I've not used it since the limit increase and the balance is clear. Might stick my Netflix sub on it, to keep it active.0 -
I also tried to apply for an increase from my initial limit of £250, and it said I had to wait two years. Then a week later they sent me a letter offering an increase to £650. This was after having the account for four months and paying in full each month.0

Barclaycard only give increases when you have proved you can handle the limit you are given. My advice is
1. Use the card as much as you like but pay it off in FULL every month.
2. Keep this up every month.
For me after 6 months I got an increase in my limit from £250 to £7500
